What's Included in Your Subscription
Your annual subscription is made up of several elements depending on your membership type. Registered Membership includes national and county association subscriptions together with Bee Diseases Insurance, while other membership categories include the benefits appropriate to that membership level.
Subscription Breakdown
Bee Diseases Insurance
- Insure the maximum number of colonies you expect to own during the season.
- Includes nucleus colonies (nucs).
- Cover available for up to 39 colonies through your membership.
- Please contact the Membership Secretary if you require cover for more than 39 colonies.
Association Apiary Membership
Members wishing to keep bees at the Ray & Jean Powell Teaching Apiary pay an additional annual subscription of £10.
Schools & Junior Members
We warmly welcome schools and young beekeepers. Please contact our Membership Secretary for current subscription details.

Bee Diseases Insurance is calculated according to the maximum number of colonies you expect to own during the season. The annual subscription below includes your FDBKA, Hampshire BKA and BBKA subscriptions together with Bee Diseases Insurance.

Here are answers to some of the questions we're most commonly asked about joining and renewing your membership.
When does my membership start?
Membership runs annually from 1 January to 31 December. Once we've received your completed application and payment, your membership will be confirmed and you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits of being part of Fareham & District Beekeepers' Association.
How do I renew my membership?
Existing members are contacted each autumn with renewal information. We'll ask you to confirm your details and your expected number of colonies for the coming season so that your Bee Diseases Insurance contribution can be calculated correctly.
How do I pay my membership fee?
We prefer payment by BACS bank transfer. Please use your full name as the payment reference so we can match your payment to your membership.

I'm completely new to beekeeping. Can I still join?
Absolutely! Many of our members joined before owning their first hive. We welcome beginners and provide training, mentoring, practical apiary sessions and a friendly community to help you get started with confidence.
I have more than 39 colonies. Can I still become a member?
Yes. However, if you expect to keep more than 39 colonies, please contact our Membership Secretary before applying. We'll advise you on the most appropriate Bee Diseases Insurance arrangements for your circumstances.
